As a complement to physiotherapy

Kinesio tape in support of

full freedom of movement

When do we Kinesio tape one?

The PhysioKinex team uses Kinesio tape specifically as a complement to physiotherapy. It is not used in isolation, but is always tailored to the patient’s condition and ongoing treatment.

For complete freedom of movement

Kinesio tape is an elastic, skin-friendly adhesive tape that is applied specifically to muscles, joints and fascia. Unlike traditional rigid bandages, Kinesio tape allows full freedom of movement and can be worn round the clock, even whilst exercising and in the shower.

Who is Kinesio tape suitable for?

Kinesio tape is suitable for patients of all ages: athletes who want to get back to their activities quickly after an injury, but also people with chronic conditions who need additional support between therapy sessions.

What can’t Kinesio tape do?

Kinesio tape is a valuable addition, but not a treatment in its own right. It supports the healing process and prolongs the effects of the treatment beyond the session itself. Our physiotherapists treat the cause of the symptoms; the tape simply supports this process.

How does it work? Kinesio tape ?

The tape gently lifts the skin, thereby improving blood circulation and lymphatic flow in the treated area. At the same time, it relieves pressure on pain receptors and improves body awareness (proprioception). This promotes healing, relieves pain and supports muscle function without restricting movement.

How long does the tape last?

Kinesio tape can usually be left on the skin for three to five days. Vasileios Papaioannou and his team in Dübendorf will also show you how to remove the tape correctly to protect your skin.

If you have sensitive skin or are aware of any allergies to plasters, please let us know before the treatment. We use skin-friendly tapes and can switch to alternative products if necessary. Mild redness after removal is normal and will subside quickly.
Yes, Kinesio tape can also be used on children and young people, provided they do not have any skin problems or allergies. We adapt the material, adhesive strength and application technique to suit their age and skin sensitivity.

Kinesio tape is usually part of the physiotherapy treatment and will be charged to your appointment. If you have any questions about whether your supplementary insurance will cover the costs, please visit the page Registration & Health Insurance.
